 “Cupid”

01- Miley Cyrus

When Miley Cyrus released her buzzy new song “Flowers” at the top of the year, a lot was made of the potential Easter eggs suggesting the song was inspired by her divorce from Liam Hemsworth — from its release on the actor’s birthday, to lyrics referencing building a home and watching it burn, just like theirs did in a 2018 Malibu wildfire. But in the end, the power of the song wasn’t in the personal-life specifics; it was in the universalities.

02- Bizarrap & Shakira

Shakira’s known for her potent lyricism, powered by real-life stories and emotions — and her first single of the year is proof of that. Turning her breakup with longtime partner Gerard Piqué into a scorching club banger, the Colombian artist teamed up with Bizarrap for “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” airing out the soccer star and even throwing a jab at his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

03- PinkPantheress & Ice Spice

U.K. pop sensation PinkPantheress had spent two years bubbling just below the global mainstream, with a series of rubbery, forward-thinking and preternaturally tuneful singles (and an acclaimed debut full-length). She just needed a little push over the surface, and that came this February with the Ice Spice-featuring remix to her 2022 gem “Boy’s a Liar.” The combination proved more the sum of its viral parts, with the two phenoms playing off the energy, attitude and excitement of one another and turning the infectious heartache anthem.

04- Coi Leray

Long before temperatures actually started warming up, “Players” arrived sounding tailor made for a summer block party — or really any dance floor in need of an instant turn-up. Underpinned by the instantly recognizable, glittering instrumental hook from Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five’s 1982 classic “The Message,” the track has a throwback groove (Coi has admitted to being inspired by Mase and Biggie’s laid-back flows) yet still feels definitively modern, thanks to Coi’s undeniable charisma and crisp delivery of her own message: all the reasons that girls is players too.

05- Lana Del Rey

Some of the best songs exist at the intentionally muddled intersection of reality and fiction. Few contemporary pop songwriters have mastered the art of weaving together imagined and biographical storylines as well as Lana Del Rey, a.k.a. Elizabeth Grant, a.k.a. Lana Del Ray. “A&W,” a gorgeous two-part single from her Ocean Blvd album, travels the expanse of a Greek epic in just over seven minutes, morphing from the moody folk-inspired reflections of “American Whore” into the lustful trap-infused murmurs of “Jimmy.”

06- Eslabon Armado & Peso

You could call it the song that shone the biggest light on the new Mexican music revolution. “Ella Baila Sola” (She Dances Alone), penned by Mexican American group Eslabón Armado’s young frontman Pedro Tovar and performed with rising hot shot Peso Pluma, became the first regional Mexican song to top the Global 200 chart. The “romantic sierreño” track, recognizable for its strumming guitars, trombone solo and Tovar and Peso’s contrasting vocals, describe a crush at first sight.

07- Raye

British singer-songwriter Raye beautifully unpacks the ugly aftermath of a breakup – full of booze, bumps, numb wishes and “dumb decisions” – in her TikTok-fueled, trip-hop-tinged hit “Escapism,” featuring 070 Shake. Mike Sabbath’s uptempo, but stormy production underscores Raye’s new journey as an independent woman, who’s also found freedom in real life after leaving Polydor Records.

08- Beyoncé

Rooted in the same high-intensity ticking that grounded the original as a deep cut on last year’s Renaissance, the new remix makes evident that even if greatness takes time to create, it can still unfold at warp speed. Shortly after the song’s bombastic, Kilo Ali-sampling instrumental intro, Kendrick Lamar scorches through a new, tone-setting guest verse — that also nods to his status as an honorary member of the Beyhive.

09- Rema & Selena Gomez

Rema’s hypnotic, rhythmic track was already an Afrobeats hit upon its release in early 2022, but it got a second life and was opened up to a larger demographic thanks to a sensual Selena Gomez remix that arrived six months later. The duo’s soothing vocals blend seamlessly on the updated beat, (slowly) launching the mesmerizing collaboration to the top five of the Hot 100, marking the highest-charting hit from an Afrobeats lead artist in the chart’s history.

10- FIFTY FIFTY

Here’s this year’s most delectable piece of ear candy – a song that seamlessly blends elements of contemporary K-pop with American girl group and bubblegum pop of the ’60s. This charmer set a new record as the longest-charting K-pop girl group song on the Hot 100, a record previously held by Blackpink and Selena Gomez’s 2020 confection “Ice Cream.” A subtle hip-hop element adds a little edge, but for the most part this is as frothy as a milkshake.

TREND # 01

Speed-up music has become a huge TikTok trend of late, prompting artists to re-issue their material at a higher tempo. These newer, slightly hyper versions have racked up millions of views on TikTok, and are here to stay. The trend has extended to visual content, too. Loads of creators are speeding up video to match the high-octane pace of their music – it works a treat for short, personal videos as much as it does with social media ads.

TREND # 02

You might have noticed that, over the last decade or so, pop songs have gotten shorter. They sprint to the chorus quicker, trimming any excess sections. This is likely down to the way digital service providers (DSPs) pay artists. Payouts are determined by the number of times people listen to 30 seconds or more of a track, regardless of length. So, one million streams of a two-minute track will bag the same amount of cash as a million streams for some twelve-minute odyssey. More tracks, shorter in length, means more listening time and more money for artists.

TREND # 03

Synthwave is its own ‘thing’, but there’s still room for other hyper-specific styles to break through. In fact, we’ve noticed an uptick in micro-genres during 2022 and 2023. Interested? Grab a pen and paper, make yourself comfortable, and suspend your disbelief. Drift phonk: Nope, it’s not a new species of bird – it’s a blend of trap, hip-hop, and vaporwave! Popularized in Russia in the late 2010s.

TREND # 04

Sure, nobody’s stanning Debussy or Mozart these days, but classical music’s power endures. In fact, it’s one of the world’s fastest-growing genres in terms of usage – we even did the research to back it up. The amount of classical music used in YouTube videos is up 90% year-over-year. Content creators are harking back to the primal, dramatic emotions found in notes and melodies from centuries ago.

After revealing that she is a Twitch streamer, the court dismisses her from the jury

This streamer’s “Jury Duty” comes to an end

In the United States, citizens of the country are required to perform “Jury Duty,” which involves participating in a trial to determine the fate of an accused person. Every American citizen can be summoned by the court to participate, debate, and vote with others to render a legal decision. This is the duty that streamer Kalei, specialist in shooting games and member of the FaZe Clan, had to accomplish on September 5. But her experience was cut short when the court learned of her profession, and therefore decided to fire her.

The double punishment

“Jury Duty” is not necessarily very popular with Americans and streamer Kalei rather made fun of its summons. She announced her summons to her community on Twitter, declaring that “the FaZe Clan determines whether you go home or not.” But a few hours later, the latter took to Twitter again to declare that she had been fired by the court after revealing her profession as a streamer. On the one hand, we could be outraged by such a decision. The profession of streamer, however “informal” it may seem, is in no way pejorative and can in no way reflect someone’s ability to fulfill a duty such as Jury Duty. But on the other hand, the streamer’s apparent lack of seriousness could ultimately prove right in court. We’ll let you form your opinion on the matter.

A jaguarundi walks through the streets of Cholul, Yucatán and causes a sensation in networks

The quiet streets of Cholul, Yucatán, witnessed an unusual visitor: a jaguarundi . This small feline, more accustomed to exploring jungles and mangroves, decided to venture into the urban world, causing amazement and fascination among the residents of the area. What caused the most controversy was not his visit, but rather the fact that he ate one of the locals’ chickens .

The jaguarundi’s walk was captured in videos and images by local residents, who did not hesitate to share them on social networks. In the photographs, you can see the feline walking with some caution, but without showing obvious signs of fear, while he walked the streets of the town as if he were “Juan around his house . ”

According to several residents of the aforementioned police station, the animal entered the patio of one of the premises and attacked a chicken . He then continued on his way through the streets of Cholul, while the locals alerted by his presence did not take long to call the authorities.

According to information from local media, such as El Diario de Yucatán , Civil Protection elements , firefighters and rescuers came to take possession of the animal . It is unknown where they took it, but according to the statements of some of the local inhabitants, the jaguarundi belonged to one of the locals.

“But it was a pleasure coming out here today. The fans here – off-the-wall stuff – and 80 points in our first one, we’ll take that.” After facing the number one ranked side in the world, it’s number two side South Africa next for Romania.  “And after that, the number 5 team in the world! But captain Cristian Chirica had some reassuring words for the Romania fans watching at home: “Stay with us because as a small team we will fight with every drop of our energy to make them proud.”
