Road safety: launch of the 11th edition of the national week this Monday

As part of the 11th edition of national road safety week, the Ministry of Transport, through the Road Safety Office (OSER), is launching this Monday, December 4, 2023, a vast program of actions throughout the territory national.

The information was given by Mr. Baffah Koné, the Director General of OSER who is leading the operation. According to him, this 11th edition under the theme: “Cohabitation of road users and protection of populations”, will take place from December 4 to 11, 2023 with the aim of raising awareness among road users of greater civic responsibility. during this period of preparations for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN 2023).

“It is an operation which will consist of raising awareness among road users, in particular motorists, drivers of 2 and 3 wheel vehicles, as well as cyclists and pedestrians, about more civic-mindedness and a change in behavior, through compliance with the highway code, possession of documents relating to the machines and their maintenance,” indicated the Minister’s collaborator Amadou Koné. 

Through the 11th national road safety week, he continues, the Ministry of Transport intends to start actions to secure the surrounding areas called “fan zones” and dedicated to the regrouping of populations during sports competitions.

Mr. Koné further specified that with the support of the national police and the national gendarmerie, particular emphasis will be placed on the repression of acts of incivility by drivers of 2 and 3 wheel vehicles, as well as drivers of VTC, metered and municipal taxis to ensure safer roads for populations during the end of year and new year celebrations.
