MYSS KETA

Myss Keta, pseudonym rendered graphically as M¥SS KETA ( Milan, …), is an Italian singer-songwriter and rapper. The character of Myss Keta was born in August 2013 from the idea of the collective “Motel Forlanini “, interested in capturing the zeitgeist of the metropolitan culture of Milan.

Key figures in the project are the producer Stefano Riva, the director Simone Rovellini, and the graphic designer Dario Pigato. The first single, Milano, Sushi & coca (quote from the album Sushi & Coca by Marta sui Tubi ), was released in October of the same year, together with a video clip on YouTube. It got a great media response, together with a series of criticisms aimed at the proposed provocative content.

In the following year, Myss Keta published the song Illusione distratta , and then restarted with greater conviction in the spring of 2015. In the Gucci Burqa video she wears for the first time a veil that covers her face from the nose down, together with a pair of sunglasses.

Her choice to never reveal her real name and to present herself with her face covered will become the hallmarks of her character, being re-proposed in different forms in all her subsequent public appearances.  With the video of The girls of Porta Venezia, the collaborators Miuccia Panda, Donatella, Prada, Cha-Cha and Iban are presented, who accompany the singer during the concerts.

At the beginning of 2016, he released the mixtape, L’angelo dall’occhiale da sera , built mainly on samples of music from the ’60s and 70s,  and at the end of the year the collection L’angelo dall’occhiale da sera: Col cuore in throat. On June 23, 2017, the EP Carpaccio iceato was released, published by La Tempesta Dischi, accompanied by the single Xananas, the first song by Keta produced by Populous.

On April 20, 2018, his first album, Una vita in Capslock , was released by Universal Records. The disc simulates a descent into hell between social problems and inner demons, to then reach the catharsis of the last two tracks. On December 4, the autobiography Una donna che conta was released, which recounts the fictitious life of the character Myss Keta. On March 29, 2019, the second album, Paprika, was released, in a genre closer to trap, which sees a series of collaborations with artists of the Italian pop scene, including Gué Pequeno , Wayne Santana of the Dark Polo Gang, Elodie, Gabry Ponte and Mahmood.

Myss Keta took part in the two LB/R tribute albums La Bellezza Riunita, dedicated to the “white discs” of Lucio Battisti, and SuOno, dedicated to Yōko Ono. She also sang with Arisa in the single DJ of m**** de Lo Stato Sociale, with Subsonica in a new version of Depre, and with Paola Iezzi in the single LTM.

During the Sanremo Festival 2020 he leads together with Nicola Savino L’altro Festival, a new edition of the After Festival broadcast exclusively on RaiPlay. On the third evening of the Ariston festival, dedicated to covers, she accompanies Elettra Lamborghini on the notes of Non successorà più by Claudia Mori and Adriano Celentano.

On October 29, 2020, the artist announced a new EP, scheduled for release on November 13, 2020, titled The sky is not the limit. Two singles were released: Giovanna Hardcore and Due, made available respectively on August 28, 2020, and November 6, 2020. On May 7, 2021, TY1 ‘s album Djungle was released, accompanied by an unexpected amount of collaborations contained in it, where Myss Keta participates in the track Hit or MYSS. The disc then reached the sixth position in the FIMI ranking.

On June 18, 2021, the second season of the Celebrity Hunted TV show: Manhunt was released on the Prime Video platform, in which Myss Keta was a contestant and winner together with Elodie. On May 6, 2022, he released the single Finimondo, as the first extract from his third studio album Club Topperia, released on May 27 of the same year. The single contains a sampling of the song Il Capello by Edoardo Vianello from 1961. In May 2023 he released the single Profumo, whose chorus takes up the song Love Boat by Little Tony from 1981.

Myss Keta’s musical style is suspended between various genres, but approaches pop and rap with a strong electronic music component and a punk attitude, often tending towards riot grrrl. Among her influences, she cited the fidget house genre and female artists such as Madonna, Peaches, Miss Kittin (whom she was inspired by for her name), Lady Gaga, Jo Squillo, and Raffaella Carrà. His lyrics speak in an ironic and irreverent tone of the VIP and glamorous world of Milan, of sex, drugs, and drinking.
