MUSIC: CONCERT BY THE ARTIST BEBI PHILIP AT THE PALAIS DE LA CULTURE
ABIDJAN ON DECEMBER 3, 2023. THE ARTIST BEBI PHILIP OFFERED THIS SATURDAY AT THE LOUGAH FRANÇOIS ROOM AT THE PALAIS DE LA CULTURE A COLORFUL LIVE CONCERT UNDER THE THEME OF “AESTHETICS AND MADNESS”.
Bebi Philip declared, during the live concert he gave, on Saturday December 2, 2023, at the François Lougah hall of the Palais de la Culture that he was not selected for the Can anthem, but that he created his own which he presented to his fans at the concert.
“We were not selected for the CAN anthem, but let’s create our anthem here,” declared Bebi Philip, all fire, all flame during this concert which he said he had dreamed of for ages like his fans he called ”God’s chosen ones”. At 9:04 p.m., the curtains open and behold, Bebi Philip with one knee on the ground, head bowed as if imploring God, and dressed in all black with sequins, matched with hat, the room screams with joy. His orchestra perched high behind him, artistically well arranged, gives the first decibels and the packed room exults.
In beautiful, well-chosen plays of light, the show begins. Thus, during more than two hours of show, the immense artist of Coupé-décalé demonstrated his musical know-how. He plays songs from his latest album (On the track) which are covered by the audience. Meanwhile, his dancers, in a cleverly designed choreography, unfold the scenes. At 9:32 p.m., Bebi Philip takes off his hat and sings.
Afterwards, he presents each member of his orchestra individually. Each instrumentalist had the opportunity to demonstrate their expertise with their instrument for a few minutes to the cheers of God’s Elect. The same goes for dancers. At 9:47 p.m., the singer releases his album ”On the track” with the songs ”Samatank”, ”Maladie de coeur”, ”Chevalier de Dieu”, ”Blô blô”.
The room is carried away in ecstasy. When he begins to sing his song ”The True Strength” under a reggae beat, the whole room stands up and sings along with him. ”Ekindé”, is the name of the song that Bebi Philip presented as an anthem to Can. According to him, it is danced in the African way. It is in a choreographic scene in the colors of the standards of the 24 countries participating in the Can that ”Ekindé” was presented to the public.
The singing artists, DJ Kedjevara, DJ Kerozen, Venom the stuntman, KS Bloom and Claire Bailly came to support Bebi. To show his musical know-how and especially as an arranger, Bebi Philip accompanied on his stage with his solo guitar DJ Kedjevara, DJ Kerozen, Venom the stuntman who each sang something from their own repertoire which ignited the room .
