‍Kidd G was born in Columbus, Georgia. Prior to pursuing music as his passion, Kidd G dedicated much of his time and focus on sports, specifically baseball and fishing, which he excelled in. In fact, he was so skilled at fishing that he received two scholarship offers for it in college.At the age of 16, Kidd G started composing his own music, which was a fusion of scathing emo-rap inspired by Juice WRLD, featuring powerful tunes and angry lyrics.

He began uploading his tracks to SoundCloud and TikTok, and in less than a year, and before he turned 17, he made it to the Billboard charts. Interestingly, his debut in the country genre was marked by his single “Dirt Road,” which landed at the No. 40 spot on hot country songs based solely on streams, a rare occurrence on this chart that usually favors radio hits.

Kidd G’s debut EP, “Teenage Dream,” was released on Thanksgiving 2020 and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s heatseekers albums chart.The same year, Kidd G was scouted by Rebel Music, a label and management company based in Miami that specializes in hip-hop music (having managed artists such as YNW Melly, Hotboii, Kaash Paige, and Dominic Fike), and eventually signed with them.

Kidd G built up anticipation for his first country single “Dirt Road” on TikTok before finally releasing the full version, which ended up being his breakthrough hit.
