The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reached “a historic agreement” with pan-African broadcaster New World TV for CAF media rights in English and local languages, free-to-air and pay-TV, for sub-Saharan African territories, announced the African football body.

“This agreement relates to CAF competitions and events between 2023 and 2025,” specifies the text released on December 3, 2023.

Several international broadcasters and agencies participated in a highly competitive tender for CAF media rights which were ultimately awarded to New World TV.

The media rights agreement between CAF and New World TV includes rights to the upcoming CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023, which represents an exciting opportunity for African football to reach new audiences in Africa and the world thanks to an ambitious and dynamic pan-African broadcaster.

CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, said: “The media rights agreement with New World TV is the largest investment by a Pan-African broadcaster in the history of CAF. We are very proud to partner to such a globally competitive and innovative broadcast company, which has quickly adapted to the changing demands and viewing habits of the modern football audience. New World TV also introduces new ways to consume video content through to its strong partnerships with various mobile operators and television networks.

Mr. Nimonka Kolani, Managing Director of the New World TV group, said: “New World TV pays particular attention to ensuring that all Africans can access their competitions at an affordable price. We are delighted that CAF trusts us. This opportunity given to us to be the guardian of their rights will allow us to strengthen the relationship with the public through these unique moments of events organized by CAF, the attractiveness of which is becoming more and more important.”

The new agreement with New World TV will allow a significant increase in CAF’s investment in television products and more financial investment in the development of football in Africa.
