ELLA SOTO

Carmela Soto , better known by her stage name Ella Soto , is a singer, producer, beat maker , songwriter  of minimal and lo-fi R’n’B with Latin and baile funk  influences . Of Uruguayan origin and Swiss nationality, she released her first EP We’re on a Mission  in 2014 with the single LET YOURSELF GO which was followed in 2016 by a second extended play Spiritual Love.

In December 2016, she collaborated with the label Creaked Records which produced in June 2017 her third extended play SISTERHOOD. She lives in Lausanne in French-speaking Switzerland .

Carmela Soto began singing in the choir Les enfants de la source in Renens around the age of six, then following the recommendations of the choir coach began private lessons. At eighteen, Ella Soto decided to learn how to create her own melodies and song lyrics with the help of software and a microphone.

A year later, she asked for help from beat makers in the Lausanne region so that they could teach her to better master her material, but also to collaborate on songs. She then undertakes to compose  alone with her midi keyboard, a controller, a microphone and her computer. His first two extended playsare the results of his musical apprenticeship heavily influenced by American and French R’n’B. Carmela undoes the genre because she composes feminist songs , with a background, personal or not, that takes her away from mainstream R’n’B.

During the creation of the extended plays of 2014 and 2016, she performed live in various Swiss venues and festivals. She was then spotted by the Creaked Records 14 label , which offered her a collaboration. While continuing the concerts 15 , at the beginning of June 2017, she announced on Creaked Records the release of her third extended play SISTERHOOD 16 which she is promoting with a tour all over Switzerland. In March 2018, the CMA Foundation joined forces with RTS radio – Couleur 3 to release a mixtape selection NAYUNO 2018where its title Supermarket 19 appears .
