ED SHEERAN
Ed Sheeran was born on February 17, 1991, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, and grew up in the small town of Framlingham in Suffolk. From a very young age he showed a natural connection to music, singing in a local church choir at age four and learning guitar as a child. Music became his escape and passion, and by his early teens he was already writing songs, recording homemade CDs and performing wherever he could.
As a teenager, Ed moved to London with nothing but his guitar and determination. He played hundreds of small gigs, slept on friends’ couches, and worked tirelessly to build a fanbase. His breakthrough came through a combination of relentless touring, strong songwriting and early support from social media. His independent EPs, especially “No. 5 Collaborations Project,” caught attention and eventually led him to signing with a major label.
Ed’s debut album “+” (Plus) released in 2011 and introduced the world to songs like “The A Team,” “Lego House” and “Give Me Love.” His soft, storytelling style mixed with acoustic guitar and emotional honesty made him stand out instantly. He quickly became one of the most promising new artists in the UK and soon gained worldwide recognition.
His second album “x” (Multiply), released in 2014, turned him into a global superstar. It included hits like “Thinking Out Loud,” “Photograph,” “Don’t,” and “Sing.” The album topped charts worldwide and won multiple awards. Ed’s ability to combine pop, folk, soul and hip-hop influences showed his musical versatility and helped him reach an even larger audience.
In 2017, he released “÷” (Divide), which became one of the best-selling albums of the decade. Songs like “Shape of You,” “Perfect” and “Castle on the Hill” dominated charts internationally. “Shape of You” became one of the most streamed songs of all time, solidifying Ed’s place as one of the most influential artists of his generation. During this period he also performed massive world tours, breaking several touring records for attendance and revenue.
Ed continued evolving as an artist. His collaborations project in 2019 featured artists from various genres, showing his wide musical range. In the following years he released more personal and introspective albums, sharing themes of love, family, loss and growth. His songwriting remained relatable and heartfelt, which is one of the main reasons his music connects so deeply with millions of people.
Outside music, Ed is known for his humility and grounded personality. Despite his fame, he has always tried to maintain a simple life, staying close to his childhood friends and family. He married his childhood friend Cherry Seaborn, and becoming a father inspired even more emotional depth in his recent work.
Ed Sheeran’s journey from a small-town boy with a guitar to one of the world’s biggest artists is built on pure passion, hard work and extraordinary talent. His ability to create songs that feel honest and timeless continues to make him one of the most beloved musicians of the modern era.
